iConnectData Reporting Is a Workflow, Not Just a Download

iConnectData reporting can include reportQ Quick Reports and other reporting options available to an organization. Quick Reports are documented as preformatted reports that allow users to review account information by applying relevant criteria. Some outputs may be viewed as PDFs or downloaded to Excel depending on the report.

The difficult part is usually not opening a report. It is deciding whether the report actually answers the operational question.

Start with the question

Before selecting a report, define what you need to know:

  • transaction activity?
  • card-level information?
  • an exception?
  • account-level activity?
  • a defined operational period?

Then select the account context before choosing criteria.

Quick Reports and custom analysis are different concepts

A preformatted report provides a defined output. That is useful when the underlying business question matches the report’s design. It should not automatically be treated as a substitute for every possible analysis.

Documentation also notes that large results can take time to generate and that an overly broad request may need narrower criteria.

Review the output before using it

A responsible reporting process checks:

  • account context;
  • date range;
  • report criteria;
  • report type;
  • whether the output is complete;
  • whether the output answers the original question.

Use exports carefully

A spreadsheet download does not remove the need to preserve context. If data is shared internally, retain enough information to identify the report, filters and extraction period.
