Before Calling a Report Wrong, Check These Five Layers

When an iConnectData report does not show the expected result, the fastest solution is often not to run the same report repeatedly. Instead, identify which layer of the reporting workflow may be responsible.

Layer 1: account context

Confirm the selected account code and customer ID.

Layer 2: report choice

Determine whether the selected report is designed to answer the question being asked.

Layer 3: criteria

Review dates and other filters.

Layer 4: result size

Official documentation notes that large report requests may require time to generate and that overly large outputs may need narrower criteria.

Layer 5: access

Confirm that the user has the necessary access to the function and relevant information.

This sequence turns a vague “reporting problem” into a testable investigation.
